Let me first clear the confusion about dates. Many old websites are still showing October dates. The official dates are now confirmed.
GITEX Global 2026 will start on 7th December and end on 11th December 2026. The format is also new. On 7th December, there will be the GITEX Scale Summit at Dubai World Trade Centre. This is for leaders and CEOs. Then from 8th to 11th December, the main expo will happen at the Dubai Exhibition Centre in Expo City Dubai.
Why this new venue? The Dubai government is expanding the Dubai Exhibition Centre with a 2.7 billion dollar project. Once complete, it will be the largest indoor exhibition venue in the Middle East with more than 2.2 million square feet of space. This is the first and most important step. Without a visa, nothing else matters.

Each stay can be up to 90 days, extendable by another 90 days, but you cannot stay more than 180 days in a single year. If you are someone who travels to Dubai 2-3 times a year for tech events, this is the best investment.
What Documents Do You Need in 2026?
The requirements have changed a little. Here is the updated checklist we ask from our clients at Gulf Star:
A clear color scan of your passport first page and last page. Passport must be valid for at least 6 months.
Outer cover page of your passport is now mandatory. This is a new rule by ICP.
A clear copy of your CNIC.
One recent passport size photo with white background. No glasses, no editing.
A confirmed return flight ticket. Dummy tickets are now risky.
Hotel booking for your stay. Or if you are staying with a relative, their Emirates ID and Ejari.
Last 6 months bank statement. Your closing balance should be healthy. It doesn’t need to be in millions, but it should show regular transactions.
Proof of funds at the airport. The FIA and UAE immigration are very strict now. You must have at least 3000 Dirhams in cash or equivalent in your credit card, plus a printed return ticket and hotel voucher. Many Pakistanis were offloaded in 2025 because of this, so do not take it lightly.
Processing time these days is 24 to 72 hours for normal and 24 hours for urgent. The fee for a 30-day visa is between 35,000 to 45,000 PKR and for a 60-day visa it is around 55,000 to 68,000 PKR. These prices change with the dollar rate.
My personal advice: apply at least 25-30 days before your travel date. Do not wait for the first week of December. At that time, every travel agent in Pakistan is overloaded.
Step 2: Flights from Pakistan to Dubai for December 2026
Once your visa is done, you need to book flights. Since GITEX will be in December, which is winter holidays season, fares will go up very fast. The earlier you book, the cheaper you get.
From Pakistan, you have plenty of direct options:
Emirates: flies from Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Peshawar, Multan, Sialkot. Best service, but expensive in December.
PIA: direct flights from all major cities. Usually the most affordable for early bookings.
flydubai: a good budget airline, very popular among business travelers.
Airblue and SereneAir: both have direct flights to Dubai and Sharjah.
Etihad: you will land in Abu Dhabi. From there, Dubai is just a 90-minute bus or taxi ride.
What will be the fare? If you book now for early December, a return ticket from Karachi will cost you around 95,000 to 135,000 PKR. From Lahore and Islamabad, expect 105,000 to 155,000 PKR. If you book in the last 10 days, the same ticket will go to 180,000 plus.
Try to land on 6th December. The event starts on 7th. This gives you one day to rest, collect your badge, and understand the metro route to Expo City. The busiest flights are on 7th morning, avoid them.
Step 3: How to Get Tickets for GITEX 2026?
This is where many first-timers get confused.
GITEX has different types of passes. For most visitors, the Visitor Pass is enough. If you register early on gitex.com, it is often free. After early bird ends, it costs around 300 to 500 Dirhams.
If you are a startup founder looking for investment, you should get the Startup Pass for Expand North Star. This event will happen at Dubai Harbour. It is a separate venue where investors actually sit and meet startups. A standard startup pass is expensive, but if you apply through PSEB, they give subsidized stalls to Pakistani companies.
Keep a printed copy of your GITEX e-ticket. When you land in Dubai, if immigration asks about your purpose of visit, showing your GITEX registration email makes your entry very smooth.
Step 4: Where to Stay – The Most Important Change in 2026
Listen carefully here, because this is where most people will make a mistake.
For 40 years, everyone booked hotels in Bur Dubai, Deira, or Sheikh Zayed Road because the venue was World Trade Centre. Now the venue is Expo City Dubai, which is at the other end of Dubai, near Dubai South and close to the Abu Dhabi border.
If you book a hotel in Deira this time, you will have to travel 1.5 hours one side every day. You will waste time and taxi money.
For GITEX 2026, you should book your hotel in these areas:
- Dubai South and Expo City Area: This is the closest. Hotels like Rove Expo City, Aloft Dubai South, and Holiday Inn Dubai Al-Maktoum are 5-10 minutes away from the venue. This is the best choice if your budget allows.
- Jumeirah Village Circle (JVC), Dubai Marina, JLT: These areas are 20-25 minutes away by metro. And you will find many affordable hotels and hotel apartments here.
- Al Barsha: Good if you want to be in the middle of the city with metro access and still not too far from Expo.
Hotel rates in December are always high. A decent 3-star hotel will cost you 250 to 450 Dirhams per night. A 4-star will be 500 plus. My advice is to share a hotel apartment with two other colleagues. It will save you a lot of money. And book in September or October, do not wait till November.
Step 5: How to Reach the New Venue?
Dubai Metro is your best friend.
The Dubai Metro Red Line goes directly to Expo 2020 station. From there, the Dubai Exhibition Centre is just a 3-minute walk. You can get a NOL silver card from any metro station for 25 Dirhams and top it up.
If you prefer a taxi, Careem and Uber both work. A taxi from Marina to Expo City costs around 70-85 Dirhams. From Dubai South area, it will be just 25-30 Dirhams.
Do not rent a car for GITEX week. Parking at Expo City during the event is a nightmare and very expensive.

Let me give you a realistic budget for a 6-day trip from Pakistan for GITEX 2026.
Dubai Tourist Visa 30 Days: 40,000 PKR
Return Ticket from Karachi to Dubai: 115,000 PKR
