Canada Visit Visa New Rules 2026 for Pakistani Citizens – Complete Updated Guide

Let me be honest with you. If you applied for a Canada visit visa two years ago, the game was different. In 2026, things have changed. A lot.

We at Gulf Star Services Best Travel Agency In Karachi are seeing files every single day. And trust me, IRCC – the Canadian immigration department – is not checking files the way they used to. They are digging deeper. Especially for applicants from Pakistan.

So if you are thinking of visiting your son in Toronto, going to Niagara Falls for holidays, or attending a business meeting in Vancouver, read this guide till the end. It will save you from a refusal.

So What Actually Changed in 2026?

The biggest change? IRCC has stopped giving that automatic 10-year multiple entry visa. You remember, earlier almost everyone who got approved would get a visa till passport expiry. Not anymore.

Now the officer looks at YOU. Your job, your bank statement, your travel history, your reason. Then he decides. You might get 6 months. You might get 1 year. You might still get 10 years if your profile is rock solid. But it’s not guaranteed.

Here are 7 new rules you MUST know if you are applying from Pakistan in 2026.

1. That 10-Year Visa is Gone

I’ll say it again because this is important. No more automatic long visa. Under the new update that came in late 2025 and is now fully active in 2026, the officer has full power. He can give you single entry. He can give you multiple entry. Validity? Could be anything.

What does this mean for you? Simple. You have to make your file strong. Show them you are a genuine visitor. Good travel history, stable income, family ties in Pakistan. That’s how you get a longer visa now.

2. They Are Super Strict About Bank Statement Now

Honestly, this is where 70% of files from Pakistan get stuck in 2026.

Earlier people thought, okay I’ll just put 30 lakh in my account for one day and get a statement. That trick does not work anymore. Not at all.

Now what does IRCC check?

They want to know where your money is coming from. Is it your salary? Your business? If you say your salary is 150k but 500k is coming in every month, they will ask why.

They check your last 6 months. Every single transaction. If you have a sudden deposit of 20 lakh just a week before applying, that’s a red flag. Big one.

And your documents must match. Your job letter says one salary, your bank says something else, your tax return says something else – straight refusal.

What we tell our clients at Gulf Star is this: For a 2-3 week trip, keep around CAD 10,000 to 15,000 per person. That’s roughly 20 to 30 lakh PKR. But more important is that this money should be stable. It should be your own savings, not borrowed.

3. Super Visa Rule Changed on 31st March 2026 – Good News

This one is actually good news for parents.

From 31st March, 2026, IRCC made Super Visa easier. Before, only the income of your son or daughter in Canada was counted. Now, they are also counting the income of the parents who are coming to Canada.

So if your son’s income was a little short, your own pension or income can now help you qualify. Plus, they have given two ways to prove income, not just one year. This gives a lot of flexibility.

Rest everything is same. You still get to stay for 5 years at a time, visa is valid for 10 years, and you need 1-year health insurance from a Canadian company.

4. How Long Does it Take From Pakistan Now?

Processing time has gone up a bit. As per IRCC data from last month, September 2026, a regular visitor visa from Pakistan is taking around 47 to 78 days. This includes biometrics.

But here is the catch. If you have a valid US visa – a proper multiple entry B1/B2 visa – or you have been to Canada in the last 10 years, you fall under CAN+ category. For CAN+ applicants, it’s way faster. We are seeing approvals in 20 to 30 days.

That’s why we at Gulf Star always check CAN+ first. It saves you two months.

5. Biometrics and Security Checks Are Tighter

Because of what’s happening around the world, Canada has tightened security checks in 2025-26. They are verifying everything.

Did you have a US or UK refusal before? You MUST mention it. If you hide it, they will find it. And then it’s not just refusal, it’s a 5-year ban for misrepresentation. Don’t do it.

Also, your biometrics are valid for 10 years. If you gave them in the last 10 years for any Canada visa, you might not need to give them again. But you still pay the fee.

6. Travel History is Gold in 2026

Look, travel history is not officially mandatory. But in 2026, it matters more than ever.

If you have been to USA, UK, Schengen, UAE, Turkey and you came back on time, IRCC sees you as a low-risk traveler. Your approval chances go way up.

If your passport is fresh, with no visas? Don’t worry. You can still get Canada visa. But your other documents – job, business, family ties – have to be extra strong. Sometimes we advise clients to first travel to Dubai or Turkey to build some history. It helps.

7. What About The Fees?

No change in fees for 2026.

It’s still CAD 100 for the visa plus CAD 85 biometrics, total CAD 185 per person. In Pakistani rupees, it’s around 38k to 42k depending on dollar rate. And it’s non-refundable. Whether you get visa or not, you won’t get it back.

What Documents You Need in 2026 – Simple Checklist

Let me give you a simple checklist that we use at Gulf Star:

Personal: Passport valid for at least 6 months, CNIC, B-Form for kids, and all old passports.

Forms: IMM5257 and IMM5645. Don’t make mistakes in these. One small mistake and file goes in pending.

Money matters: 6 months bank statements with original bank stamp, account maintenance certificate, 3 months salary slips, job letter with your designation and salary, NTN and tax returns. If you have a business, then business registration, company account statements.

Purpose: This is very important. For tourist, make a proper day-by-day plan. Where will you stay? What will you see? For family visit, you need invitation letter from Canada, copy of host’s PR card or passport, FRC to prove relation, and host’s job letter. For business, invitation from Canadian company.

Proof you will return: This is what many people forget. Give them your leave approval letter from office, your business documents, your Family Registration Certificate (FRC), your kids’ school cards. Show them your life is in Pakistan and you will come back.

Why You Should Get Your Profile Assessed First?

I’ll tell you why we never take a file without assessing it at Gulf Star.

Because most people don’t know which category they fit in. Should you apply in regular TRV? Are you eligible for CAN+ fast track? Or should you go for Super Visa? Wrong category means direct refusal.

Second, every profile has a weak point. Maybe your balance is okay but travel history is zero. Maybe you have good history but your bank statement is weak. If we don’t find it first, the visa officer will. And then he will refuse. Assessment finds that weak point before anyone else.

Third, it saves your money. CAD 185 is not small money. Plus you wait for 2 months. Why waste it if your profile is not ready? Better to check first, fix the gaps, then apply.

And last, with these new 2026 rules, IRCC wants a proper story. Your bank, your job, your purpose – everything should connect. A professional profile assessment makes sure your file tells that story properly.

We at Gulf Star have been doing this for 25 years. We only take your case if we feel your profile is eligible. That honesty is why we have a 99% success rate.

Mistakes That Will Get You Refused in 2026

Putting a big amount in your account just a few days before applying. Officers catch it immediately.

Writing a copy-paste cover letter from Google. Your cover letter should be personal. Mention your exact dates, your exact purpose.

Not showing ties to Pakistan. If you don’t show your job, family, or business, they will think you won’t come back.

Applying without checking CAN+ eligibility. You are literally making your file slow.

At The End

Canada still wants visitors. They are not closing doors. But they want genuine visitors. If your file is honest and well-prepared, you will get the visa.

Don’t use fake documents. Don’t take shortcuts. It will hurt you for future visas too.

If you are planning to apply, get your profile assessed by someone who knows the new 2026 system.

FAQs

1. Is Canada still giving 10-year visitor visa in 2026?

Not automatically. In 2026, the visa officer decides. You can get single entry or multiple entry, and validity can be 6 months to 10 years depending on how strong your file is.

2. How much bank statement do I need for Canada visit visa from Pakistan?

There is no fixed rule from IRCC. But for a short trip of 2-3 weeks, show at least CAD 10,000 to 15,000 per person, around 20-30 lakh PKR, with 6 months stable history. Where the money came from is more important than the amount.

3. What is the current processing time for Canada visitor visa from Pakistan?

For regular applications, it’s 47 to 78 days right now. If you qualify for CAN+ because you have a valid US visa, it’s much faster – around 20-30 days.

4. What is the new Super Visa rule from 31st March 2026?

From 31st March 2026, IRCC now counts parents’ income as well along with host’s income to meet the minimum income requirement. So more families can now qualify.

5. Can I apply for CAN+ visa if I have a US visa?

Yes, if you have a valid multiple entry US visa or you traveled to Canada in last 10 years, you can apply under CAN+ fast-track. It needs less documents and is processed faster.

6. How much is Canada visit visa fee from Pakistan in 2026?

It’s CAD 100 plus CAD 85 biometrics, total CAD 185 per person. Roughly 38k to 42k PKR.

7. Do I need travel history for Canada visa?

It’s not compulsory but it helps a lot in 2026. If you have US, UK, Schengen, or UAE travel history and you returned on time, your chances are much better.

8. Can I change my Canada visit visa to work permit after reaching Canada?

No. You cannot work or study on a visitor visa, CAN+ or Super Visa. If you work illegally, your visa will be cancelled and you can get a ban. You need to apply for a work permit separately.
